Editing and joining multiple .TS files (HD PVR)

Post by XFer »

Hello,
I'm evaluating Smart Cutter 1.3.5, and would like to ask a couple of questions.

I have an HD DVB PVR (h264) which produces various .ts files and an .ifo file from a *single* recording session.
So for example: 2h recording session -> 5 different .ts files and an .ifo file.
I want to use Smart Cutter to edit the recording.
So I need to:
1. Specify multiple .ts files (because the PVR splits the recording in several files) as input, as a single video (it is a single video, after all!). Smart Cutter does not load the .ifo
2. After the editing, I want a single video as an output; so even if SmartCutter has to split it into various .ts, I still want to be able to reproduce them as a single seamless video (I guess an .ifo has to be produced?)

Does Smart Cutter accomplish this?

Thanks

Dear XFer:
Thanks for your concern.
multiple .ts files as input ... After the editing, I want a single video as an output
Smart Cutter surely will do this. That's the basic function of Smart Cutter.

In Smart Cutter, 'Open' each input movie, setup 'Start' and 'End' point, then 'Add List', the same to all the input movies.
After the list is set, make sure that the 'link' button is lightened, now click 'RecordList'.
Give it a output file name such as out.ts when being asked.
The output will be a single movie.

Here is a step-by-step tutorial

Please feel free to send us your further advice and suggestion.
Thank you very much.

Thanks for the reply.

I did read the tutorial, but did not figure how to edit a movie which spans multiple files.
Now I understand I have to open and edit the various .ts one by one, and add the edit points to the list while I proceed.
I thought I could edit the whole footage (spanning multiple .ts) as a single "chained input" file.

I'll experiment a bit more, thank for your support!
