Smart Cutter 1.8.4 corrupting files

Post by kerryland »

Hi,

I've just bought Smart Cutter 1.8.4 to use to edit video files from my Panasonic SD90 video camera, but joined files have little "glitches" in them that look especially bad in VLC, and on my "HiMedia 910A" Media Player that's hooked up to my TV :-)

I've uploaded samples to the ftp directory 'kerryland'. To reproduce:

* Add 00134.mts and 00135.mts to a batch
* Click "Link"
* Click "Start Batch"

See there is a glitch maybe 0.5 sec after the video starts, and again maybe 0.5 sec after the second scene begins. I've also included "joined.mts", which is the file Smart Cutter created for me on my machine, and contains the glitches that do not exist in the 00134 or 00135 file.

I've also tried "Stream Fix", but that didn't make any difference. "TME" mode seemed to fix the 2nd glitch, but not the first. "TME" mode takes a VERY long time to run.

Please help -- Smart Cutter is such an excellent idea!

FYI I tried using "TME" mode over my entire video (not just this sample), and it did not improve the output

I have just realised the my version of VLC was slightly out of date. I was running 2.0.8. After updating to 2.1.0 the second "glitch" goes away in VLC. Obviously this doesn't fix the Media Player connected to my TV -- which I've used to play many many h264 files without error.

Hope this helps.

Dear admin,

I have a version of 1.8.4. of Smartcutter. I am a registered user.
When I used it to cut out commercials. I get a watermark "DEMO" at the beginning of the finished product.

Please advise.

Dear Guilt:
Thanks for your message.

'watermark "DEMO" at the begining'
This means the key code was not working.
Please input your key code in the Options dialog, click ‘Activate Key Code’ and test your project again

I have upgraded VLC to the latest version (2.1.2) and the video corruption is back, and of course the same corruption happens using the Media Player on my TV.

I was hoping to see a new version of Smart Cutter after so many months. I'm disappointed with my purchase, as I haven't been able to use it thanks to this bug. Makes it all rather pointless really, given that I bought it to ensure that my home videos retained the highest possible quality by avoiding re-encoding, but all it does is add corruptions to the video file.
