Is there any news regarding this problem? I cannot view any cut file with vlc which is really annoying.

Could you identify the problem with the newly added samples?

Dear dip:
Thanks for your posting.

We are still investigating the difference between the results of Smart Cutter and NullPacketStripper.

Since we can not re-produce the corresponding problem on our test machines, we must take more tests even wild mass guessing. That is a bit time consuming. We must iterate all the possibilities. So the developers may need some more time to identify the reason.
We will keep you posted about the progress on it.

Please feel free to send us your further advice and suggestion.
Thank you.

You say you cannot re-produce the problem? Do the samples all play correctly to the very end in vlc on you test system?
I tried two different computers (both Windows XP Home Edition SP3). On both systems the video freezes in vlc and only the cursor moves finally to the end (with video freezed and no audio).

I have now produced and uploaded (to your ftp server) two further samples which may be helpful.

- complete.ts: this is a sample from a movie cut in ONE piece with Smart Cutter 1.2.9. The original starting time code was 18:05:57:519 and the end time code was 18:06:25:882.

- 2_parts.ts: From the same movie I cut two pieces, the first starting at the exactly same time code as complete.ts does, namly at 18:05:57:519. The first cut out point was set at 18:06:05:722. The cut in point of the second piece was set at 18:06:18:960 and the second part finally ends exactly at the same time code as complete.ts ends namly 18:06:25:882.

That means that with complete.ts you have a sample which comprises the complete uncut stream. Maybe it's helpful to compare the frames of the complete stream with the cut points in 2_parts.ts.

Is there anything else I could try? I really need a solution to this problem since none of my cut movies can be played with vlc. All stop a the first cut point. If I can test anything or provide you with specific examples please let me know.

Dear dip:
Thanks for your kind help.

We think we have figured out some clues, and we are simulating the process of NullPacketStripper.

Here is the first try. Please playback the below two videos on your VLC, see whether they behave differently.

Looking forward to your further message.
Thank you.

Unfortunately, both files behave the same and are not correctly played by vlc.

Again, both files behave the same. That means both cannot be played correctly in vlc as previously described.

Since I am at the office at the moment, I installed vlc 1.1.4 on my Windows XP Professional machine and tested the files on this computer. I have the same problems as on my home computer. So this is already the third computer (this time running Windows XP Professional instead of the Home version) on which the same problem exist.

Dear dip:
Thanks for your prompt reply.

Here is the 3rd try. It is a combination test.
Please playback the below 7 videos with your VLC, see how many of them pass the cut point correctly.
Please close and re-run VLC before you open each video. This will clear any error data left over.

Many thanks for the different samples:

Samples 1 und 2 are passing the cut point and are playing until the end. This sounds promising!

Samples 3 to 7 do not play to the end, video and audio freeze at the cut point.

One further remark: Vivdeo playback of the beginning of samples 1 and 2 is somewhat choppy. That may be caused by the fact the the first part is very short. Maybe you should provide some longer samples cut like versions 1 and 2 for testing. Playback of the second part after the cut point is very smooth. Audio seems to be smooth throughout the whole sample.

Best regards

Dear dip:
Thanks for your quick reply.
Samples 1 und 2 are passing the cut point ...
You mean 'Samples 1 and 2 ...', do you? Just want to be sure, because the result is important to our next stage tuning.

Looking forward to your further message.
Thank you.
