Dear James.T.:
Thanks for your message and we wish you a very happy new year!

According to the two debug log files(v148 and v191), we almost concluded that the problem arose from a time code issue.

We saw that the only problemic file in the debug log file v191 is
(11-17 03-55-03_ProSieben The Tourist.ts)
but it is not the sample file (11-07 22-30-00_3sat (deu) Cleaner.ts) you sent to us.

And the two files both showed in debug log file v148 with no problem.

So, we are very curious about, whether only (11-17 03-55-03_ProSieben The Tourist.ts) will lead to the problem?

As we only tested (11-07 22-30-00_3sat (deu) Cleaner.ts) on our end, with no problem found.

May be you could upload (11-17 03-55-03_ProSieben The Tourist.ts) to our ftp server for a test? So we can re-produce the problem on our end? That will be very helpful.

Please feel free to send us your further advice and suggestion.
Thank you very much.

Dear Support Team,

Thank you for your reply. Sounds basically good!

Trying to upload the file as requested I have problems to connect with your ftp-server. Everything o.k. on your end? Are the old access data still valid?

Best regards, James.T.

Please Fame-Ring start work seriously

Please download below test version and try it on your end

That reply shows the incredibly casual attitude from Fame-Ring to their own work and to their customers:
  • the post itself has no title, it leaves the forum software put the alas usual stupid and useless "Re: ..." instead.
  • the test to download has a ridiculously unspecific name. What if you have a 2nd test to post? Don't you know that a test, being done when there is some uncertainty, almost ever results in multiple other tests to do (at least for serious people)?
  • link is 404-ed less than 2 months after being posted! and while the GRAVE problem of this repetitive crash has not received the tiniest debut of solving!!
This just adds to a series of unseriousnesses in development of this program. For instance the names of the program, site, company, are way too numerous and different:
  • the program, depending where (program files, fame-ring.com site, inside pages or programs, etc), has at least these names: smart.exe, Smart Cutter for DV and DVB, smart_cutter.html. The 1st one is particularly ridiculous: when an user receives from his Windows a mesaage saying "smart.exe has this or that problem", how will he guess which program did? in addition, suffices there is just ONE other guy on earth feeling smarter than anyone else, to have TWO programs with the same "smart.exe" name. Was it so difficult to think a few seconds and name it something like "SmartCutter", then to use everywhere that same name, with not a single character (or case outside URLs) altered: SmartCutter program, SmartCutter.exe program file, smartcutter.html product page, etc?
  • the site is named "fame-ring.com". Did you seriously think before choosing it? If you feel so smart (and yes your program has deserved this at its debut, and may still deserve it), why not call your site "SmartVidEdit" or "SmartVideoEdit" or "VideoSmartEdit" or whatever, detailed enough to single YOUR site and product(s), simple enough to make it easy to remember, short enough to make people NOT shortening it? and above all, thought and chosen seriously then never changed for a decade (of course don't change it now, it's too late).
Other examples are in the interface. For instance, IIRC (since the program crashes so much that I can't test right now what I am writing), when you start executing the cutting you have prepared, the program opens a window saying in its title bar "Wait for message Transcoding complete!". This is actually bait for error: if the user goes a little too fast, when seeing "Transcoding complete!" he may feel the transcoding is complete and abort it, thus losing time or even data. Why is it so hard to do as everyone else: during transcoding, display "Transcoding..."; when complete, display "Transcoding complete!"?

Other example, it should be easy to make the user able to catch the current time, complete from hours to milliseconds, by just double-clicking inside the Time case (with the 9 big violet figures, just below "Fix Video File" and "Capture Frame"). This would obviously cost very little time to you alone, and save significant time to HUNDREDS users.

Other improvements should be possible but less easy so I keep them for later. Now while a bit upset with the casual work in Smart Cutter, I still highly appreciate what has been done already, and am happy to have bought it.

Dear someuser:
Thanks for your message.

'queue size out of range'
Please help us to show and identify the problem.

Could you please upload a original video sample showing the problem to our ftp server for a test?

It would be better if the sample file size is less than 50 MB.

If you can not find small sample, use this simple tool to split your movie file into small pieces, and upload any one of them.
http://www.softpedia.com/get/PORTABLE-S ... rger.shtml
-------------------------------------
before uploading sample, please create sub-directory with your name under the root, then upload sample to this sub-directory.

FULL priviliged --- mkdir, read, write, remove
Will be helpful to limit the sample file size under 50MB.
Thank you.

FTP Username: samples@fame-ring.com
Password: samples
FTP Server: ftp.fame-ring.com
FTP Server Port: 21

Here is also a step by step tutorial for uploading sample(s):

Looking forward to your further message.

Dear Support Team,

Unfortunately the program version 1.9.2 still craches...there seems to be no significant improvement. As I was looking forward to re-using the software since three months now I am starting to become disappointed.
What is your intention for the nearest future? How to continue? The poor progress is not acceptable anylonger.

Looking forward to your reply.

Dear James.T.:
Thanks for your message.

'version 1.9.2 still craches'
We believe that the problem lies in a time code issue of the video file. This kind of problem will be much easier if we can re-produce the problem on our end.

'Trying to upload the file as requested I have problems to connect with your ftp-server. Everything o.k. on your end? Are the old access data still valid?'
(11-17 03-55-03_ProSieben The Tourist.ts)
The ftp server and its access data is always okay, please feel free to upload.

Furthermore, are you sure that the very same problemic video file crashes Smart Cutter on different computers?

Please feel free to send us your further advice and suggestion.
Thank you very much.
