SmartCutter 1.4.7 and 1.4.8 crash

Post by dip »

I use SmartCutter since a long time. I have now a recorded *.ts file (h264 from my satellite receiver) which causes a crash of SmartCutter as soon as I open it and try to move the slider.
I opened this file with older versions of SmartCutter and found that the problem only exists with versions 1.4.7 and 1.4.8. With version 1.4.6 and earlier the file can be opened, the slider can be moved and it can be cut without problems. So it seems that the changes from version 1.4.6 to 1.4.7 introduced a bug into SmartCutter.

I tried to create a small sample of this file which comprises the error but unfortunately this seems not to be possible. As soon as I cut a sample out of the problematic file and save this sample to a new file the new file can be processed with versions 1.4.7 and 1.4.8 without any problem. I tried to cut out a sample at the beginning of the file, at the end of the file and in the middle but the resulting new file never had the problem. I even cut out the first half and then (overlapping) the second half but both new files did not have the problem. So it seems as soon as I cut the file with version 1.4.6 of SmartCutter the problematic part is removed and the resulting file has no problem anymore.

That means that I cannot upload a small sample but only the complete file which has a size of about 13GB. Is it possible to upload such a big file to your ftp server?

Best regards

Dear dip:
Thanks for your message.

This time, please do not use Smart Cutter(1.4.6) to cut it, but use the tool below to cut a raw segment out and upload it, we think this will show the problem. It would be better if the sample file size is less than 100 MB.

Looking forward to your further message.
Thank you very much.

I have just uploaded a small sample to your ftp server (in the subdirectory dip). When I open the sample and drag the slider completely to the right smartcutter crashes.

Could you reproduce (and solve) the problem with my sample video file?

Dear dip:
Sorry for the latency.

We are still working on this issue. Since we are also busy on preparing a major change of the GUI, there may be some delay on the procedure of the bug fixes. We may need some more time for this.

Please feel free to send us your further advice and suggestion.
Thank you very much.

Hi

This seems a reasonable place to layout my problem, so here goes.

Using v1.4.8 and Windows 7. When I load unprotected SD or HD files recorded on the Humax HDR Fox T2 the program immediately crashes with: smart.portable.exe has stopped working

Other SD files recorded using a cheap freeview recorder can be loaded and edited as expected.

The files play using VLC. The Media Information returned by VLC on the example video I've uploaded is:

Stream 0
Type: Video
Original ID: 101
Codec: H264 - MPEG-4 AVC (part 10) (h264)
Resolution: 1920x1080
Frame rate: 50
Decoded format: Planar 4:2:0 YVU
Stream 1
Type: Audio
Original ID: 102
Codec: MPEG AAC Audio (mp4a)
Language: English
Channels: 3F2R/LFE
Sample rate: 48000 Hz
Stream 2
Type: Audio
Original ID: 106
Codec: MPEG AAC Audio (mp4a)
Language: English
Description: visual impaired commentary
Stream 3
Type: Subtitle
Original ID: 105
Codec: DVB Subtitles (dvbs)
Language: English
Description: DVB subtitles
BBC HD [Programme 17472]

Channel 4 HD [Programme 17664]

STVHD [Programme 17856]
Status: Running
BBC One HD [Programme 17596]

The Space [Programme 20288]

Type: Data broadcast service

I've uploaded a short HD recording to folder humax HDR Fox T2.
