Save Path

Post by dellsam34 »

On all version of Smart Cutter when inputting from virtual drive or physical drive no matter what path I select it always save to the drive path that contains the file, and it writes nothing although it shows transcoding successful. Why?

Dear dellsam34:
Thanks for your message.

'no matter what path I select it always save to the drive path that contains the file'
In the Options dialog, is the 'Use source folder as destination directory' box checked?

Please feel free to send us your further advice and suggestion.
Thank you very much.

I have exactly the same problem; "use source folder" is unchecked, but file is not saved to the path I've input.

The problem hasn't been fixed yet any plans on looking at it?
Summary of the problem: When loading a file from a disc or disc image it transcodes but always saves to the original source folder and writes nothing as writing to a disc or a disc image is impossible. Source folder is unchecked.

Work around to solve the problem

Post by dellsam34 »

I accidently found a way to get around the saving file problem, here is how it works:
If you want to edit from a physical disc or a disc image or any writing protected storage device and save the edited file to you hard drive you won't be able to do so before because the program defaults to the original video location and cannot save anything because it is impossible, Well not anymore, after you load the video and edit it before you hit the red dot button first save the project to your desired destination folder on the hard drive and then hit the button, it will then record to the location where the project is saved even if the save path is otherwise in the program options, it's a weird bug but I'm glad it worked for our benefit.

Dear dellsam34:
Thanks for your kind help!

'any writing protected storage device ... first save the project to your desired destination folder ... it will then record to the location where the project is saved'
We'll let our developers see what's happening on this strange issue.

Please feel free to send us your further advice and suggestion.
Thank you very much.

You Killed The Workarround In The Recent Update

Post by dellsam34 »

Now the program always saves to the original file location no matter what path is set in the options, Before saving the project to the desired location forces the program to save the video to that location, You guys screwed it up for good, I need to go back to V1.9.3 can you please post it somewhere.
