v1.9.2 still crashing

Post by VGER »

Hello,

even v1.9.2 is still crashing while generating the output file:

Problemsignatur:
Problemereignisname: APPCRASH
Anwendungsname: smart.exe
Anwendungsversion: 0.0.0.0
Anwendungszeitstempel: 54c5fac1
Fehlermodulname: smart.exe
Fehlermodulversion: 0.0.0.0
Fehlermodulzeitstempel: 54c5fac1
Ausnahmecode: c0000005
Ausnahmeoffset: 000f26d0
Betriebsystemversion: 6.1.7601.2.1.0.256.1
Gebietsschema-ID: 1031
Zusatzinformation 1: 0a9e
Zusatzinformation 2: 0a9e372d3b4ad19135b953a78882e789
Zusatzinformation 3: 0a9e
Zusatzinformation 4: 0a9e372d3b4ad19135b953a78882e789

There is now a difference to the older versions: v1.9.2 does not crash immidiatly on start (at 0%) as the previous versions did, but (in my current example) at 7% of a 5GB file. The outputfile is thus no longer 0 bytes in length, but a few hundered MB.

And before you ask: No, I can not upload a sample file, because the crash does not occur on a 30 second input file. On the other hand, I can hardly upload a 5GB file (or do you want me to try? There may be a possibility...)

I would be happy to try a version with debug output if you have one available.

Dear VGER:
Thanks for your message.

'I would be happy to try a version with debug output if you have one available.'
Please download below test version and try it on your end
http://www.fame-ring.com/test/smart.cutter.dp192.zip
After each run of the program, you could find a fame_debug.log file under the program directory, which is a log file recording every step of the program. Please send this log file to us for further analyzation. Our email address
famering@gmail.com or support@fame-ring.com

Looking forward to your further message.

Dear VGER:

' did you receive my logs via email? Any news yet?'
Yes. According to the log file, the error occurs in the first 500MB part of the file.

So could you please chop this 500MB with below free tool and upload it to our ftp server?

Please feel free to send us your further advice and suggestion.
Thank you very much.

I'm uploading the first 500 MB segment now. The folder name is /VGER.

This will take a while - hope it completes successfully in about an hour from now. ;-)

I just tried v1.9.2f - still crashing, at the exact same spot of the input file.

Did you receive the file I uploaded?

Dear VGER:
Thanks for your message.

'Did you receive the file I uploaded?'
Yes we did. And we did re-produce the problem on our end. But the problem occurs on different stages of the transcoding from time to time. So we are taking more tests on it. Will keep you posted when we have a fix for this.

Please feel free to send us your further advice and suggestion.
Thank you very much.

I'm seeing the same or a very similar problem. I am trimming HD movies captured using NextPVR and Hauppauge Colossus II. The cutter crashes at the 0% mark. It doesn't happen with all captures but with many of them. They play fine. Is there any progress on a fix?

We have now passed the one year mark since I first reported this problem. Yes, on April 20th it has been a full year that I can't use the program because of the persistent crashes. Needless to say I waisted considerable time tracking down the problem without much assistance, and no workable solution at all.

Do you expect me to be a satisfied customer?

Dear VGER:
Thanks for your message.

Previously we saw some occasional crashes but we can not re-produce them every time.

Now we already found a 100% repeatable setting on this issue. That means we are much closer to the reason of the problem. But this can only be seen on the MAC OSX version. We think It is a problem of the data stream.

Since MAC OSX is not so easy to deal with when debugging a program, it may take some more time on it. Will keep you posted when we get a working fix.

Please feel free to send us your further advice and suggestion.
Thank you very much.
