I have noticed that Smart Cutter is only able to open m2ts files when their video format is AVCHD, but not when it is VC-1. Please I would like to know if this video format will be supported in a future release of Smart Cutter.

We do not think so, since VC-1 is a closed video standard, it is difficult to support it in Smart Cutter.
