File rename on save

Hi, great program, and so quick.
I use it to trim rubbish from start and end of shots.
So, for example, I load 0002.mts, set new start and end then hit the red dot.
I get Windows file dialogue with a suggested name of 0002.(0).mts but I want to replace the original and so I change it to 0002.mts.
I get "file already exists confirm you want to overwrite" and hit OK. All just as I would expect.
BUT Smart Cutter still saves it as 0002.(0).MTS regardless of what I selected, leaving the original 0002.mts untouched.

Windows 10, Smart Cutter 1.9.4
"Action when duplicate name met" set to Rename or Replace same thing happens.

Am I doing something wrong or does Smart Cutter need a tweek?
Regards
David

Dear 747skipper:
Thanks for your message.

'BUT Smart Cutter still saves it as 0002.(0).MTS regardless of what I selected, leaving the original 0002.mts untouched.'
When saving the result file, the original file 0002.mts is still opened and in use by Smart Cutter, so you can not use 0002.mts as the output file name now.

Please feel free to send us your further advice and suggestion.
Thank you very much.

OK. Thanks I understand now.
Can I suggest this as a future upgrade? In the same way that Word can save an amended version of the document it has open.

This is logical and correct.

But if I want to overwrite an already saved file (not the loaded file!), then the file is not overwritten and a new filename is given instead. That is not right and in my opinion a bug.
