Crashing when cutting .TS Stream in HD

Postby albert » Mon Mar 27, 2017 9:42 pm

Hi,

I was searching for a tool like SmartCutter, so I'm giving it a try right now.

I want to cut the ads from ts-streams.

Seems it works perfectly with my SD material but I tried 3 different HD-Streams multiple times and the app crashes every time. 2 streams crash immediately after hitting "start transcode", the 3rd stream seemed to work but short before finishing the transcoding it crashed too.

Can you help me?

Here my details:
macOS 10.12.3
Smartcutter 1.9.3

thanks
Albert

I installed WinXP in a virtual machine on my Mac to try Smart Cutter with my TS-HD-streams in the windows version.

It works not as fast (since its in a virtual machine) but it works. So I guess its not SmartCutter having a problem with the streams.

Seems it's an OS-specific issue. Maybe some memory related problem?

To help analyzing the issue I cut a recording into a small TS-Stream < 50 MB an uploaded it to the FTP-Server.

When I open the stream in the mac version, set start and end points and I start transcoding it immediately crashes.

If you have any advice or need some more information, please let me know.

thanks

Hi,

I know debugging can be a really hard job. Just let me ask, if you could reproduce the error with my uploaded stream?

Please feel free to contact me if you need more information or material for debugging. I'm also open to beta-testing an update if it helps.

Thanks for your hard work. Looking forward to buying and using smart cutter in the future.

best regards

Dear albert:
Thanks for your message and the sample file.

'if you could reproduce the error with my uploaded stream?'
Yes we did. We can see the problem on OSX 10.11.x and OSX 10.12.x, but we did not see it on OSX 10.9.x. We are working on it to find a fix.

Please feel free to send us your further advice and suggestion.
Thank you very much.

Hi,

are there any news?

I the meantime I tried SmartCutter on a machine running OSX 10.8.5 – it crashes too. Tried it with the exact same video I sent to you by ftp.

Its just the same behavior: I open the video, set start and end point and press the record button to output the new file. Right after pressing the button it crashes.

I'm willing to spend more than just 1 license if it helps.

Please let me know if you dont plan to release a working version. Better I know and buy another solution.

thx

Still working on this issue. It showed different results under various OSX versions. We knew that it is related to several OSX system libraries, but did not find a solution yet.
Will keep you posted about the progress.

Please feel free to send us your further advice and suggestion.
Thank you very much.

Hi,

I'm afraid but I can't wait any longer.

Can you offer me some kind of solution?
Is the license for Mac and Windows version? If not: Maybe I can buy the windows version now and you offer me a free crossgrade later when the Mac version is working as expected?
Or can you offer some other solution?

As I said. I'm willing to pay a little more to support your debugging efforts.

thanks

Dear albert:
Thanks for your message.

'Is the license working for both Mac and Windows version?'
Yes.
The same license will work for both Mac and Windows version, with full features and life-time free upgrade.

Please feel free to send us your further advice and suggestion.
Thank you very much.

Hi,

since I bought a license in May, I wanted to try the new version (1.9.4) on MacOS to see if the problem is gone. But the latest mac version is still 1.9.3, right?

Any advances in correcting the bug? Using a virtual machine Windows is not really that comfortable ...

regards
